Meadow

We own several flower-rich meadows close to the cottage, which are under traditional management to conserve their diverse mixture of species.

Bird Life of the Radnor Forest

The streams, meadows, woodlands and moorlands near the cottage support a rich variety of birds. You can check in our Nature Diary at the cottage to see what's been seen recently, and add your own sightings to the diary and its monthly species lists.

In the meantime, here are a few recent bird sightings reported from the Radnor Forest area:

  • Hen harrier, overwintering
  • Goshawk, resident
  • Red grouse
  • Short-eared owl, overwintering
  • Nightjar, spring
  • Great grey shrike, winter
  • Crossbills, resident
  • Redpolls
  • Merlins

For sightings in all of the old county of Radnorshire, see the Radnor Bird Blog.

Radnorshire Wildlife Trust

  • RWT is the smallest Wildlife Trust in the UK, but also per capita the best supported!
  • The RWT owns and manages 15 nature reserves in the county.
